Many state and local programs are subsized in part by the Federal Government. Given the unpredictable climate, some programs listed may be operating on a limited capacity. We will do our best to keep this page updated with the most recent information.

Massachusetts Discount Energy Rate

Depending on the size of your family and your combined gross annual income, you may be eligible to receive a discounted rate for your gas and electric service. You may qualify for the Discount Rate Program if you meet the following criteria:

  • Your household income does not exceed 60% of state median income level.

  • You are a residential customer (primary dwelling only).

  • You are the head of your household or principal wage earner.

  • The electric or gas bill is in your name AND you are currently receiving benefits under one of the following programs:

    • Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC)

    • Emergency Aid to Elderly, Disabled and Children (EAEDC)

    • SNAP Mass Health (DMA)

    • Mass Health (Mass. Comm. for the Blind)

    • Mass Health (DTA)

    • School Breakfast / Lunch

    • Head Start

    • Home Energy Assistance (Fuel Assistance)

    • Veterans Chapter 115

    • Veterans Non-Service Pension / DIC Headstart

    • Supplemental Social Security (SSI)

    • Public / Subsidized Housing

Customers should contact Customer Service at 1-888-301-7700 to confirm eligibility and begin the enrollment process. After verbal enrollment, the Discount Rate Application will be mailed to the customer to complete and return to complete enrollment.
